About The Position

This role involves assisting healthcare patients within a local hospital to find insurance and navigate applications for third-party resources, including state aid. The ideal candidate is a caring and compassionate individual with a sense of community, dedicated to helping those in need and ensuring patients have the necessary medical coverage for their bills.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to work inside of a hospital, including visiting hospital rooms to complete tasks.
  • Must be fully vaccinated, including COVID-19 vaccine and booster, current Flu shot, and pass a drug screening.
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate or equivalent in relevant work experience.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-fostered environment.
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work.
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Previous healthcare coverage/eligibility experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain work activity levels and establish processes for timely eligibility program certification.
  • Retrieve and forward requested records and information, such as medical records, insurance policy details, remittance advice, and itemized statements.
  • Analyze, distribute, and follow up on special requests and adjustments with hospital personnel.
  • Maintain proactive communication with patients or their representatives regarding account progress throughout the eligibility process.
  • Screen patients and/or their representatives to determine potential eligibility for Third Party resources.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, case managers, social workers, and hospital business office staff daily to address questions and issues.
  • Educate patients and their representatives on eligibility requirements, application processes, and verification needs for applicable programs.
  • Maintain professional relationships with patients and governmental agencies to ensure cooperation and compliance.
  • Document patient information and all work activities in designated systems according to company policies.
  • Ensure accounts are processed in accordance with Eligibility Program standards, client expectations, and all applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations related to job duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
