About The Position

This role involves assisting healthcare patients within a local hospital to find insurance and third-party resources to help with their medical bills. The position requires a caring and compassionate individual with a sense of community who is interested in helping those in need. The Eligibility Screener will work in a local hospital setting, assisting patients with applications for various state aid and other resources.

Requirements

  • Willing and able to work inside of a hospital, including visiting hospital rooms to complete tasks, which requires individual to be fully vaccinated, including COVID-19 vaccine and booster, current Flu shot and drug screening.
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate or equivalent in relevant work experience desired
  • Previous healthcare coverage/eligibility experience preferred
  • Proficient personal computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Willing to work inside of a hospital including visiting hospital rooms to complete tasks
  • Ability to work in a team fostered environment
  • Ability to work in a multi-tasked environment
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule

Responsibilities

  • Meet work standards and establish processes to ensure timely certification for eligibility programs.
  • Retrieve and provide requested records, including medical and insurance information, to relevant parties.
  • Manage special requests and follow-ups with hospital staff.
  • Maintain proactive communication with patients or representatives throughout the eligibility process.
  • Screen patients for potential eligibility for third-party resources.
  • Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and hospital staff to address questions and resolve issues.
  • Educate patients on eligibility requirements, application, and verification processes.
  • Foster professional relationships with patients and agencies to ensure compliance.
  • Document patient information and activities according to company policies.
  • Ensure account processing complies with program standards and regulations.
  • Adhere to relevant policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
