About The Position

Responsible for the safe and efficient supervision of day-to-day assigned Grain elevator production operations department shift. Support the Production Manager of Operations in monitoring and improving plant productivity.

Requirements

  • High school, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; E.G. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc, plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training; Experience in agriculture or operations preferred, plus. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and understand documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, public and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Develop schedules and assign tasks for hourly employees to achieve production goals.
  • Schedule and manage attendance/time off for hourly employees.
  • Monitor safety and environmental programs, identify and execute improvements.
  • Develop and deliver technical training for job skills and safety.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Participate in development of long-range plans consistent with business goals.
  • Assist with special projects.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Occasional contacts with patrons on routine matters.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
