About The Position

Ardent Mills is the leading flour milling and ingredients company in North America, seeking passionate individuals to join their team as an Elevator Operator IV. This role is for the 2nd shift, but requires availability to work all shifts. The position demands comprehensive knowledge of all Elevator operations, including the unloading of wheat from railcars, barges, and trucks, and the associated paperwork. Responsibilities extend to performing all tasks within the Elevator Department, assisting with marine operations, and conducting quality control tests on products using tools like the FOSS for moisture and protein analysis. The operator will also be responsible for minor equipment maintenance, clearing spouts, operating cleaner/scalpers, and maintaining equipment. The role involves backing up other Elevator Operators and performing sanitation and housekeeping duties. Due to production needs, the position requires availability 7 days a week on rotating shifts to cover for illness and vacations. Requirements

  • Must be knowledgeable in all operations associated with the Elevator
  • Must be able to perform all jobs within the Elevator Department
  • Able to assist in opening, closing, and setting up barges
  • Knowledgeable in sample collecting and proper testing of products for quality control programs and specifications related to wheat blends and transfers
  • Able to use the FOSS to run moisture and protein
  • Able to run test weights on incoming wheat and blend mill mix as determined by management
  • Must be able to perform minor maintenance and critical inspections on equipment that is related to the Elevator Department
  • Able to perform greasing, clear out objects from spouts, operate cleaner/scalper and maintain equipment
  • Ability to adequately perform sanitation and housekeeping duties

  • Ready to learn new skills
  • Flexible to work in multiple areas of the mill, rotating through positions and shifts
  • Strong in mind (sharp-eyed and safety focus)

  • Clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection
  • May be required to pass a physical abilities test

Responsibilities

  • Be knowledgeable in all operations associated with the Elevator
  • Unload wheat railcars, barges, trucks
  • Process paperwork that applies to elevator operations
  • Perform all jobs within the Elevator Department
  • Assist in opening, closing, and setting up barges
  • Collect samples and perform proper testing of products for quality control programs and specifications related to wheat blends and transfers
  • Use the FOSS to run moisture and protein tests
  • Run test weights on incoming wheat and blend mill mix as determined by management

  • Back up Elevator III (Elevator Operator) and Elevator II (Marine Leg Operator)
  • Adequately perform sanitation and housekeeping duties
  • Perform other duties as reasonably required by a supervisor
  • Support others in production goals
  • Work in multiple areas of the mill, rotating through positions and shifts
