About The Position

Stayton Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team in a job-share arrangement for a full-time 1st-grade teaching position. The ideal candidate will foster a positive and engaging learning environment that promotes academic excellence and social-emotional development in students. This role requires collaboration with a co-teacher to ensure seamless instruction and a cohesive classroom experience. Stayton Elementary serves children from Pre-K through 3rd grade in a caring school community focused on growth, belonging, and early learning success. We believe young children thrive when they feel safe, valued, and supported—and our preschool team works together every day to make that happen.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification for the state of Oregon.
  • Experience in elementary education, preferably in a job share or collaborative teaching environment.
  • Strong understanding of child development and effective instructional strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a partner teacher.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture.
  • Proficiency in using technology for teaching and administrative purposes.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and maintain a flexible approach to teaching.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and cater to diverse learning styles.
  • Collaborate with a co-teacher to share responsibilities for classroom management, lesson delivery, and student assessment.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and fosters a love for learning.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to build strong relationships and promote student success.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational best practices and innovative teaching strategies.
  • Collaborate with school staff and specialists to support the needs of all students, including those with diverse learning requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Contribute to the school community through participation in events, meetings, and committees as required.
