About The Position

Mastery Schools is a public charter network of 23 K-12 schools in Philadelphia and Camden, serving over 14,000 students. Founded in 2001, Mastery is dedicated to providing students with the academic and personal skills needed for success after graduation. The organization is committed to pursuing equity, disrupting systemic racism, and addressing disparities. The culture at Mastery is built on respect, service, and the belief in student success, fostering a positive, open, and inclusive environment that celebrates honesty, humor, and continuous improvement. This role is for K-3rd Grade for the 2026/2027 School Year. Kindergarten through 2nd grade classrooms are self-contained, and starting in 3rd grade, teachers become subject-specific. Elementary teachers at Mastery focus on closing the literacy gap by incorporating culturally-relevant and rigorous texts and topics. In the K-2 Program, teachers leverage 135 minutes of daily literacy instruction and 90 minutes of daily math instruction using provided curriculum materials like Fundations, Heggerty, KIPP Wheatley, and Eureka Math. The rest of the day is dedicated to ensuring students' social-emotional, science, and social studies skills contribute to long-term success. Mastery values continuous improvement and supports teacher growth through coaching from Assistant Principals and central-office coaches, as well as school-based content teams. Professional development and peer collaboration time are integrated into the staff calendar, with annual professional development opportunities and an allowance for further growth.
