About The Position

Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult service, and community development. For 50 years, Outreach has changed the lives of thousands of individuals, children, youth, and families in DuPage County, IL, and we are seeking to hire a diverse staff of highly competent professional employees to pursue Outreach's mission to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be. Outreach is hiring a Part-time Elementary Teacher at Outreach Carol Stream to support elementary students in the JNS after-school program academically and in life skills. Part-time Temporary Employment from August 10th 2026 - May 21st 2027. An average of 20 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Working hours are 2:30pm-6:30pm on school days and potential work on non-school days. Hours vary during school breaks and holiday weeks. Some evening or weekend hours are required for special events and other program needs. Summer opportunities may also be available.

Requirements

BA in education, social work, children's ministry, or a related field.
1 -2 years of previous classroom or group experience with elementary-age kids.
Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
Responsible and independent professional, as well as an effective team player.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Bilingual (Spanish/ English) strongly preferred.
A valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to build relationships with and facilitate learning for elementary students in the JNS after-school program.
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and education of one classroom of elementary students.
Teach and guide a classroom of elementary students in the daily after-school program.
Curriculum activities include homework support, academics, social-emotional learning, Christian education, and life skills.
Maintain a "student-friendly" classroom that invites discussion, research , and learning, leading to an enriched experience and welcoming environment.
Implement and enforce standards for effective behavior management according to Outreach's standards.
