About The Position
The Eskasoni School Board is seeking to hire a teacher for the upcoming school year. This position is for an Elementary Teacher at Eskasoni Elementary & Middle School, with an employment term from September 1, 2026, to August 31, 2027. The salary will be according to the Eskasoni Teacher Salary Scale. Preference will be given to bargaining unit members, Indigenous people, and those with relevant experience and skills.
Requirements
- Valid NS teacher certification
- Proficiency in Google Workspace, email and basic computer skills
- Knowledge and experience implementing inclusive teaching strategies for students with academic and behavioral needs
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Elementary teaching experience an asset
- Knowledge and experience with technology applications to enhance instruction and learning (ie: google classroom, etc)
- Knowledge of Mi’kmaq culture, traditions and language an asset
Responsibilities
- Ability to work closely with TA’s to oversee and ensure appropriate educational programming
- Strong classroom and student management and ability to create structured and engaging learning environments
