The Elementary Teacher is responsible for instruction in the assigned curriculum area. This role involves creating a nurturing classroom environment, demonstrating effective communication with students, and teaching regularly scheduled classes. The teacher must be informed about the academic, spiritual, and social development of each student, employing instructional aids and methods that promote creative teaching. Planning through semester plans, objectives, and lesson plans is essential. Maintaining adequate records of attendance and grades, making homework assignments meaningful, and updating assignments and grades electronically are key responsibilities. The teacher is also expected to attend and participate in scheduled in-service days, departmental meetings, and general faculty meetings. Additionally, teachers are responsible for requesting instructional aids and materials, updating curriculum as needed, and planning field trips, guest lecturers, and other media for creative teaching. Non-teaching responsibilities include keeping records of textbooks, maintaining discipline, communicating with parents, supervising student activities, maintaining attendance records, attending student chapels, and participating in various school events.
