About The Position

The Elementary Teacher is responsible for all teaching, organization, and supervision within their assigned area. Keep the Elementary principal informed of activities, progress of students, and the condition of the classroom. Participate as an active member of the school staff and pertinent parent organizations. Adhere fully to the stated purposes, standards, policies and procedures of CRISTA Ministries and of King's Schools. Carry out fully teaching responsibility as outlined in the job description for teachers as follows.

  • Conducts themselves in a manner which reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
  • Demonstrates the values of a CRISTA leader.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Model a committed Christian faith and personal relationship with Jesus and minister to the spiritual needs of students and our school community through all activities undertaken in Teacher’s role.
  • Educate students in a manner consistent with, and reflective of, the Christian tenets of the Statement of Faith and the CCC, including the incorporation of these shared Christian religious beliefs and conduct into all student curricula (sometimes referred to as integrating faith and learning, or integration of a biblical worldview) and programming.
  • Teach a biblical worldview that is integrated into all curriculum and activities.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Bible and application of a biblical worldview to subject matter and teacher’s conduct as a minister in our school community.
  • Through godly leadership, engage and inspire the academic, spiritual and emotional growth of students.
  • Be ready and available to lead staff devotionals and staff prayer.
  • Model a personal and growing Christian faith that aligns with CRISTA’s Statement of Faith and Christian Community Commitment (CCC).
  • Contribute to the spiritual, intellectual, social, and physical welfare of the students.
  • Minister to the spiritual needs of students and develop a vibrant Christian faith community.
  • Support the spiritual needs of students through relationship and personal modeling of Teacher’s own Christian faith.
  • Lead classes in daily prayer.
  • Instruct and be available to lead and support students’ spiritual formation.
  • Oversee and support chapel attendance and students’ spiritual engagement at chapel.
  • Maintain professional standards, remain alert to academic developments, be a continuing student of the educative process, work toward the established goals of school and classroom; leader in technology skills, master new content, methods and materials.
  • Teach 21 st Century Skills.
  • Teach the adopted curriculum and make good use of textual and resource materials provided; plan work on an annual, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily basis, and work according to plan.
  • Submit weekly online and hard copy assignment sheets (K‑6), principals and families.
  • Update website weekly, RenWeb and/or classroom Facebook page.
  • Guard carefully the health and safety of the children including seeing them to carpool and/or on the bus after school each day.
  • Prepare and conduct evaluative testing and as appropriate, administer MAP Growth assessments for grade, interpret the data and use the data to increase student learning.
  • Build relationships and connections with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Be a positive and innovative grade level team member and contribute to PLCs (Professional Learning Communities) and to the expectations of King’s.
  • Arrive 30 minutes prior to the school day and remain 30 minutes after school is dismissed depending on what is appropriate for the teacher’s class schedule.
  • Inform the office if leaving campus during the school day.
  • Maintain cumulative student files.
  • Confer immediately with students, parents, and principals concerning the progress, questions, and/or problems of a student, and provide written reports on the various forms provided for this purpose.
  • Keep accurate academic records, progress reports, and submit these to the office at the scheduled times.
  • Counsel and advise students on academic, personal, and spiritual concerns.
  • Attend faculty devotions, meetings, orientations, workshops, open houses, parent-teacher conferences and other professional meetings deemed necessary.
  • Inform the administrative assistants or principal immediately if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
  • In case of absence, notify principals as early as possible; prepare information and materials for the guest teacher.
  • Supervise regular activities, carpool duties, KIDS Praise, assemblies, and any other activities where a cooperative teacher effort is needed; attend and promote Open Houses, Tour & Information Sessions, PINS (Parent Information Nights), and other activities related to Admissions.
  • Advise and participate in extracurricular activities, committees and programs.
  • Supervise student intern teachers and cooperate with area colleges and universities in providing opportunities for observation and demonstration, helping to orient, assist, and mentor teachers.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisor, co-workers, students and parents.
  • Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.
  • Conduct that reflects well on CRISTA Ministries and aligns with its mission, vision, Statement of Faith and Christian Community Representative Commitment (CCC).
