This position is for an Elementary Teacher specializing in Special Education (SPED). The role involves promoting the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. The teacher will utilize available instructional materials and various techniques to foster student achievement and development, demonstrating knowledge of appropriate developmental practices for young children. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, ensuring a safe and attractive classroom, implementing effective classroom management, and completing assignments in a timely manner. The teacher will also plan and prepare for classes, submit lesson plans weekly, and report punctually to assigned duties. This role requires becoming knowledgeable about system methods, programs, and resources, using diagnostic and placement methods, and exhibiting self-control. Continuous evaluation of student progress and planning based on student needs are essential. Cooperation with school and central office personnel, encouraging parent involvement, and demonstrating professional growth through inservice training and faculty participation are expected. The teacher must conform to Louisiana laws regarding student education, health, safety, and welfare, and assist in the development and implementation of quality education within Jefferson Parish Public Schools. The role also includes planning for and participating in the evaluation process, and performing other duties as assigned by the principal.
