About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to create a flexible program and a positive learning environment that fosters student growth. The teacher will establish effective rapport with students, motivate them to develop essential skills, attitudes, and knowledge for a strong educational foundation, and build good relationships with parents and other staff members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from an accredited university.
• Indiana Teaching License.

Responsibilities

• Teaching reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, health, and physical education to students in a classroom, utilizing the adopted course of study and other appropriate learning activities.
• Instructing students in citizenship.
• Developing lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Providing individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
• Using a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, and discovery.
• Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Identifying student needs and cooperating with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, behavior, and learning problems.
• Maintaining professional competence through in-service education activities and professional growth activities.
• Participating in curriculum development programs as required.
