About The Position

This role involves developing and implementing curriculum plans, preparing lessons that cater to individual student differences, and presenting subject matter in accordance with established guidelines. The teacher will employ various instructional techniques, cooperate with staff on instructional goals, and plan assignments for aides and volunteers. The position also requires the use of technology in teaching, assisting students with study habits, assessing student accomplishments, and providing progress reports. Additionally, the teacher will be responsible for extracurricular activities, serving as a positive role model, creating a conducive learning environment, managing classroom discipline, and ensuring student safety. The role includes assisting in the selection of instructional materials, maintaining open communication with parents, and fostering professional relationships with colleagues, students, and parents. The teacher is expected to participate in staff development, demonstrate professional growth, and adhere to all state, district, and school regulations and policies. This includes maintaining and filing required documents, attending faculty meetings, and serving on committees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for the assigned grade level.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Ability to maintain effective classroom management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences.
  • Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, campus policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved.
  • Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s).
  • Employ the use of technologies in the teaching/learning process.
  • Assist students in analyzing and improving methods and habits of study.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and may sponsor outside activities approved by the school.
  • Present for students a positive role model that supports the mission of the school district.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Establish control in the classroom and administer discipline in accordance with board policies, campus policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents and community members.
  • Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in the district staff development program.
  • Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
  • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
