The teacher will promote the mental, physical, emotional, and social growth of assigned students. This role involves utilizing instructional materials and techniques to foster student achievement and development, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring a safe and attractive classroom environment. The teacher will also develop and implement classroom management techniques, complete assignments in a timely fashion, and collect necessary monies. Planning and preparation for classes, including weekly lesson plans, are essential. The teacher must report regularly and punctually to assigned work locations and duties, notify administration of absences, and provide substitutes with adequate plans and materials. Maintaining classroom books and equipment, becoming knowledgeable about system methods and resources, and using various diagnostic methods are also key responsibilities. The role requires exhibiting self-control, providing for individual differences, continually evaluating student progress, and cooperating with school personnel. Encouraging parent involvement in student progress and demonstrating professional growth through inservice training and faculty participation are expected. The teacher must conform to Louisiana laws concerning student education, health, safety, and welfare, and assist in the development and implementation of quality education in Jefferson Parish Public Schools. Participation in the evaluation process is also required, along with performing other duties assigned by the principal.
