About The Position

Promesa Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and highly qualified Elementary Special Education Teacher with Dyslexia Certification for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing individualized, evidence-based instruction that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of students with disabilities and students identified with dyslexia.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate Special Education certification.
  • Dyslexia certification, training, or credentials in an approved dyslexia intervention program.
  • Knowledge of IEP development, ARD procedures, progress monitoring, and special education compliance.
  • Strong classroom-management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a student-centered instructional team.

Nice To Haves

  • Elementary teaching certification.
  • Experience providing dyslexia intervention at the elementary level.
  • Experience using structured literacy or multisensory instructional methods.
  • Familiarity with Texas special education and dyslexia requirements.
  • Experience working in a charter school or diverse educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specially designed instruction to elementary students receiving special education services.
  • Deliver structured, multisensory dyslexia intervention using an approved evidence-based program.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student services, accommodations, progress, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor student progress and use assessment data to adjust instruction.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, related-service providers, and families.
  • Support students in inclusive classroom environments through accommodations, modifications, and targeted interventions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state special education and dyslexia requirements.
  • Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
