About The Position

Pine Street School is seeking passionate educators for the 2026-2027 school year to inspire children from Nursery Ones through 8th Grade to become curious, capable, and compassionate global citizens. The school utilizes the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and offers immersive language learning in Spanish or Mandarin, with German being added in Middle School. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in subject area(s)
  • Minimum of three (3) years elementary teaching experience
  • A valid teaching certification (or equivalent) for Elementary Education
  • Fluent proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Strong experience with Apple technology implementation

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree is highly desired
  • Expereince with the IB PYP strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and employ appropriate, trans-disciplinary learning experiences for individual, small and whole group instruction using various teaching methods appropriate for language immersion settings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop the school's ethos and support relationships amongst students of all ages.
  • Guide and support parents through the rich and complex experience of the curriculum, helping them learn what their children are capable of and how they can best support them in our program.
  • Actively utilize New York City as a resource for learning and involve your students in sustainable community service projects and experiences.
  • Maximize student language learning by utilizing the target language consistently in the classroom and collaborate with other language team members to develop and improve our language practices.
  • Implement technology as tool that empowers learners to broaden the expression of an idea, innovate, solve a problem, learn something new, verify information, and communicate and collaborate with others.
  • Work with students individually and in groups, by selecting and employing various teaching methods appropriate for language immersion settings.
  • Take responsibility for preparing materials and classrooms for activities, including photocopying, laminating, etc.
