About The Position

American Renaissance School seeks a visionary, collaborative, and highly accountable Elementary Principal to lead our Kindergarten through 3rd-grade building. The K–3 Principal serves as the primary instructional and administrative leader of the campus, fostering a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. This role focuses on early childhood pedagogy, foundational literacy, and student-centered support, ensuring every young learner has access to a high-quality education while advocating for the needs of historically underserved populations.

Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina School Administrator license required (must hold or be eligible for licensure at the time of hire).
  • Master’s degree in School Administration or a related Education field.
  • 3–5 years of experience as a licensed educator.
  • 3–5 years of increased responsibility in an administrator role.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in a related field.
  • 5+ years as a licensed educator in an Elementary setting.
  • 5+ years in an administrator role at the Elementary level.
  • Proven experience leading school improvement initiatives or leading in a low-performing school setting.
  • Direct experience supporting EC programming at the elementary level and working within a charter school governance structure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead data-driven instruction initiatives, guiding teachers in analyzing assessment data to differentiate instruction, implement interventions, and close academic achievement gaps.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to address student academic and behavioral needs.
  • Drive school improvement initiatives, establishing high standards for student growth, equity, and educational excellence.
  • Model high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct, maintaining a highly visible and active presence throughout the school community.
  • Lead through transitions or climate challenges by building a collaborative, transparent, and positive school culture.
  • Ensure every student—regardless of ability, background, or circumstance—has access to a high-quality education, actively advocating for diverse and growing student populations.
  • Manage campus-level staffing and personnel decisions in close collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Develop and implement strategic master schedules that prioritize instructional needs while ensuring complete licensure and credential compliance across all positions.
  • Supervise, evaluate, and hold staff accountable to established expectations and outcomes, providing constructive feedback and professional development.
  • Manage the campus-level budget responsibly, ensuring resources are aligned with instructional priorities.
  • Support and oversee programming for schools serving a high Exceptional Children (EC) population, ensuring compliance and robust resource allocation.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of and commitment to school safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance; implement safety procedures, train staff, and respond decisively in crisis situations.
  • Communicate effectively and transparently with staff, families, and community stakeholders to build trust and partnership.
  • Engage with a diverse student body, demonstrating cultural competence and a commitment to meeting varying academic, linguistic, cultural, and socioeconomic needs.
