About The Position

Falk Laboratory School, a coeducational K-8 school at the University of Pittsburgh, seeks a full-time educator to work with children who have a range of learning differences. This role begins January 2027. Candidates must have empathy for, and a genuine interest in, developing positive educational experiences for students with learning differences.

Requirements

  • Master of Education Degree in the field of special education or a related field
  • Pennsylvania instructional certificate or equivalent, if applicable
  • Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance
  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check
  • FBI Criminal Record Check
  • Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Release Form
  • Proof of negative TB test

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with staff members and families to create and implement intervention programs that maximize students’ access to the general education content
  • Administer initial screening and diagnostic testing in both reading and mathematics to identify students who could benefit from remedial instruction
  • Develop and teach motivating, engaging lessons that are grounded in best practices, and are appropriate to students’ ages, grade levels, and abilities
  • Apply and support accommodations to support instruction
  • Observe, evaluate, and prepare reports on students’ progress
