About The Position

The Elementary School Counselor will provide a quality educational program to help all students reach their full potential. This role involves collaborating with administration and faculty to support students and families, offering whole group and small group instruction, providing individual social and emotional support and interventions, working with outside agencies, and advocating for students and families. The counselor will align the school counseling program with district, state, and national models, implement a school counseling calendar, and use data for program design. This position requires translating counseling theory into practice, adhering to legal and professional standards (including ASCA), maintaining confidentiality, demonstrating collaboration and teamwork, applying knowledge of human growth and development, utilizing technology for record-keeping and student information systems, and evaluating student, school, and community needs. The role also involves gathering data for reporting, communicating about the counseling program to various stakeholders, building leadership skills, participating in an advisory committee, developing crisis prevention and response strategies, addressing college and career readiness, and performing other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

  • NH teacher certification in School Counselor #0040 or proof of eligibility for NH certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Apply a knowledge of human growth & development to the school counseling program.
  • Use technology in school counseling, record-keeping, and student information systems.
  • Formulate, follow, and evaluate student, school, and community needs.
  • Gather data for state and district reporting requirements.
  • Communicate about the counseling program to students, teachers, school boards, administrators, and parents.
  • Build leadership skills in self and others.
  • Participate in an advisory committee to the school counseling program.
  • Develop and apply crisis prevention and response.
  • Address student needs for college and career readiness knowledge and skills.
  • Address scheduling and graduation requirements.
  • Perform other duties as determined by the Principal.
