About The Position

This position will provide a full-time Nurse’s Assistant (LVN/LPN) for Pleasant Grove Independent School District. The employee must be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate, and have three years of experience as an Educational Aide I or II; or have a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related areas; or have experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing Superintendent. The position requires current CPR/First Aid, Spinal Screenings, and Visual/Hearing Screenings certifications. The nurse's assistant shall have the ability to understand and follow instructions, communicate and work with students, teachers, administrators, and the public, maintain records, and maintain effective working relationships. A positive and cooperative attitude is essential. Pay scale and classification will not be less than the minimum compensation plan for Pleasant Grove Independent School District. The Nurse Assistant will be under the immediate direction of the school nurse and through her to the building principals and the Superintendent of Schools.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or hold a GED certificate
  • Three years of experience as an Educational Aide I or II; or a minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related areas; or experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing Superintendent
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • Current Spinal Screenings certification
  • Current Visual/Hearing Screenings certification
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate and work with students, teachers, school administrators and the public
  • Ability to maintain records
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationship with other auxiliary personnel, teachers, school administrators, and the public
  • Positive and cooperative attitude toward the duties of the nurse’s assistant, the school, the staff, and the students
  • Recommended by the employing Superintendent

Responsibilities

  • Assist the school nurse in implementing the school health program in accordance with guidelines of the Texas Education Agency, as interpreted by the local school board.
  • Receive and administer medications in accordance with district policies and regulations.
  • Administer first aid treatment in accordance with district policies and regulations.
  • Assist the nurse in administering vision and hearing screening.
  • Maintain accurate health records for the assigned campus.
  • Respect the confidence of instructional personnel and the administration, and the confidence of students and student health records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
