The Elementary School Art Teacher is responsible for designing and facilitating a comprehensive visual arts program that nurtures creativity, artistic skill development, critical thinking, self-expression, and an appreciation for the visual arts. Working with students in Kindergarten through Grade 5, the Art Teacher creates engaging, developmentally-appropriate learning experiences across a variety of artistic media and techniques. The Art Teacher fosters a studio environment that encourages exploration, inquiry, experimentation, and reflection while supporting students in developing confidence as artists and creative problem-solvers. The teacher cultivates a positive classroom culture, values student voice and choice, and helps students make connections between art, culture, community, and the world around them. The Art Teacher collaborates closely with classroom teachers and colleagues to support inquiry learning experiences and contributes to a vibrant school culture through exhibitions, special projects, and community events. The teacher serves as a reflective practitioner who documents student learning, assesses growth, and continually refines instructional practices to support student success.
