Elementary & Middle School Tutor (K–8) – Part-Time
About The Position
Tutor Doctor provides personalized, one-on-one tutoring to help students build confidence and succeed academically. We match tutors with students based on their needs and learning styles, creating a customized and supportive experience for every family. Tutor Doctor is seeking a patient, engaging K–8 Tutor to work one-on-one with students in the Carlsbad and Oceanside area. This is a flexible, part-time role ideal for someone who enjoys working with younger students and helping them build strong academic foundations in a supportive environment. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in elementary and middle school math and reading, and certified teachers and/or tutors are highly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Patient, positive, and engaging teaching style
- Strong communication skills with both students and parents
- Organized and reliable, especially with session reporting
- Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
- Reliable transportation required
- Clear background check
Nice To Haves
- Teaching credential (preferred, but not required)
- Bachelor’s degree or currently pursuing one (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one tutoring in math and/or reading and other subjects for K–8 students
- Support foundational skills, homework completion, and study habits
- Adapt lessons to each student’s learning style and pace
- Build confidence and create a positive, encouraging learning environment
- Communicate progress and key updates after each session via session reports
