About The Position

This is a .5 FTE (half-time) position for an Elementary Math Lab Teacher at Eason. The role involves delivering supplemental math instruction to identified students, providing math guidance to classroom teachers, and supporting Waukee's mission and vision. The teacher will operate within a Professional Learning Community, applying the Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students and implementing Multi-Tiered System of Support. Key responsibilities include targeted intervention, progress monitoring, research-supported instructional practices, balanced assessment, differentiation, and integration of skills. Experience with the workshop model and diverse learners (Special Education, ESL, Extend Learning) is expected. Collaboration with instructional coaches, leaders, teachers, counselors, and administrators is crucial. The role requires data-driven decision-making, understanding of formative assessment, and effective classroom management to foster student achievement. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with effective parent/family communication, are essential. Proficiency with current technology for learning is also required.

Requirements

  • Valid Iowa teaching license
  • Teacher - elementary classroom endorsement (K-6)
  • K-6 Math endorsement or Master of Arts in Math Education
  • Previous primary classroom teaching experience at the elementary level
  • Demonstrates willingness and desire to collaborate with instructional coaches and building and district leaders to continue to grow professionally
  • Proven ability to read and interpret a variety of types of data and expertise in data-driven decision-making to guide instruction
  • Understanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levels
  • Flexible, highly motivated, and enthusiastic about working with children
  • Articulate in oral and written communications
  • Proven communication with parents and families
  • Knowledge of and experience with using current technology to enhance learning

Nice To Haves

  • Previous primary classroom teaching experience at the elementary level
  • Experience and proven ability in working with and growing diverse learners, including Special Education, English as a Second Language, Extend Learning, etc.
  • Record of recent professional learning and knowledge of current research

Responsibilities

  • Deliver supplemental math instruction to meet the learning needs of identified students
  • Provide math guidance and support to classroom teachers
