About The Position

SmartStart Education seeks an Elementary School Intervention Specialist to work with elementary school students Monday through Friday. Each class consists of students who have been identified as those who are struggling with fundamental English and/or Math skills. Students are from all grade levels, including K-5th grade. The intervention specialist will work with each group several times throughout the week at an elementary school in Cleveland, OH 44104. Groups will take place within the classroom. Intervention specialists should be flexible and comfortable with classroom settings. Each intervention specialist will be given the responsibility of taking daily attendance and monitoring student progress using a personal device (mobile phone).

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory.
  • Must be an active certified Interventionist (Ohio Interventionist License).
  • IEP Writing experience is a must.
  • Demonstrated experience of at least one year in teaching, either within a school environment or another educational setting.
  • Mastery of elementary school English and Math concepts and skills, substantiating proficiency in the subject matter.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
  • Display of genuine passion and unwavering commitment towards fostering the success of students.
  • Exemplary punctuality, ensuring timely attendance and adherence to established schedules.
  • Proficiency in communication skills, enabling effective and articulate interaction with students, colleagues, and interested parties.
  • Ability to comfortably commute to the designated location.
  • Ability to comfortably navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday.

Responsibilities
