About The Position

Support the implementation of a comprehensive school wide behavior plan—emphasis on working with teachers to identify root causes of student misbehavior and develop appropriate staff responses. Work with students to develop a variety of coping skills for use in interacting with other students and staff members and working with parents to support positive and appropriate behavior at school and home. Support the implementation of PBIS at the school level. Support staff and respond to intervention needs. Act as a member of the school leadership team.

Requirements

  • Administrative and/or Program Consultant Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience
  • Classroom behavior management expertise

Responsibilities

  • School level PBIS implementation
  • Provide support and consult with school personnel concerning intervention strategies and classroom management strategies for individual students and for classroom and/or school wide application
  • Meet regularly with teachers/assistants of students with behavioral needs to provide support, assist in problem solving and provide training as needed
  • Assist administrators, counselors, teachers and students with intervention needs by observing specific students, making recommendations, modeling strategies, and/or actively participating with school personnel in developing, implementing and evaluating interventions/plans
  • Develop and conduct school/district professional development training on intervention strategies, de-escalation strategies, classroom management, developing and implementing intervention plans, progress monitoring, data collection and other topics related to serving students
  • Assist in selecting/implementing social skills curriculum for students
  • Pursue professional growth activities to increase capacity
  • Research effective practices, materials, and programming
  • Make recommendations concerning the implementation of PBIS and overall best practices and resources for interventions
  • Collaborate with the school leadership team, other school PBIS Coaches, school psychologists, and student assistance coordinators to assess needs and provide services to students and schools.
  • Attend all district meetings to build a collaborative network
  • Responsible for PBIS/Behavior data that is used to inform the leadership team in decision-making
  • Consult with parents on positive intervention strategies to be used at home and school
  • Build partnerships with community members and identify use of community resources to meet the individual needs of students
  • Attend and conduct periodic parent meetings and support groups to ensure open communication between school/district, families and community agencies
  • Provide parent training, individually and in groups, as needed
  • Collaborate with Family Resource Center Coordinators and Guidance Counselors to support students and families
