About The Position
This position is for the 2026-27 School Year and is a supplemental contract role with four positions available. The Elementary Hi-Cap Student Liaison will collaborate with teachers, parents, and students to design and implement personalized learning plans for highly capable learners. The role involves regular review of student progress, providing resources and strategies to teachers, fostering student self-advocacy, and serving as a communication point between stakeholders. The liaison will also identify enrichment opportunities, analyze data, and stay current with best practices in gifted education. This role ensures equitable access to opportunities for all highly capable students and advocates for their needs within the school community.
Requirements
- Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement.
- Knowledge of current trends in curriculum, instruction and technology.
- Thorough understanding of cooperative learning groups and techniques.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge/experience with new state assessment requirements preferred.
- Elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and students to design personalized learning plans that address each student’s strengths, interests, and academic needs.
- Ensure plans align with district guidelines, state standards, and best practices for highly capable learners.
- Regularly review student work, assessments, and progress toward goals outlined in their learning plans.
- Adjust goals and strategies as needed to ensure continued growth and challenge.
- Provide resources, instructional strategies, and enrichment opportunities to help teachers implement the student learning plans.
- Communicate regularly with teachers to evaluate the effectiveness of plans and make adjustments.
- Foster self-advocacy, goal setting, and reflection skills to empower students in managing their own learning.
- Serve as the point of contact between parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student learning plans and progress.
- Identify and recommend enrichment activities, competitions, or independent projects that support the students’ areas of strength and interest.
- Collect and analyze data to measure the effectiveness of student learning plans.
- Provide reports and updates to administration, teachers, and parents as required.
- Stay current on best practices in gifted education and differentiation strategies.
- Share knowledge and strategies with colleagues to support highly capable learners across the school.
- Ensure that all students identified as highly capable have equitable access to opportunities.
- Advocate for students’ needs within the school community.
