Assists special education teachers with students in various programs including the Resource Room, Extended Resource Room, Positive Behavior Intervention Program, Early Childhood Special Education Program, or Tuition Kindergarten program. The primary function is to support special education teachers in implementing students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs). The Paraprofessional works with students with a variety of mild to severe physical, emotional, and learning disabilities, and may work with individual students or groups, either in a separate classroom or facilitating inclusion into a regular classroom. The position is directly supervised by the assigned Special Education Teacher, with overall supervision by the building Principal. Duties are performed in a classroom environment and may involve exposure to body fluids and risks of personal injury from student behaviors.
