About The Position

This position is for an Elementary ELAR Teacher within the Human Resources Department, reporting to the Principal. The role is full-time and exempt, following the Teacher Pay Scale for compensation. The primary function is to provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in assigned subject areas to foster intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Meet Texas “highly qualified” standards.
  • Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and subject area of assignment (required for ESL/Bilingual, SPED and preferred for other subjects).

Nice To Haves

  • Texas Teacher Certificate preferred for subjects other than ESL/Bilingual and SPED.

Responsibilities

  • Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, communicating these objectives to students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs/capabilities of individuals or student groups.
  • Strive to implement the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Assist the administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order fairly.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes when required.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, and evaluate their job performance.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Participate in district and campus staff development.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans in a timely manner in the school's utilized platform.
  • Maintain a minimum number of grades in the Gradebook in a timely manner.
  • Meet with the mentor teacher regularly (if a new teacher).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
