About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved education program in subject area.
  • North Carolina teaching license.
  • Ability to constantly monitor the safety and well-being of students.
  • Ability to motivate students.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Ability to perform general clerical duties.
  • Ability to maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
  • Ability to operate common office machines.
  • Ability to maintain basic files and records.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, instruct, and organize instructional environments.
  • Monitor the safety and well-being of students, especially during inclusive activities.
  • Motivate students and maintain a clean and orderly environment.
  • Maintain order and discipline in a classroom.
  • Prepare materials, supplies, and equipment for lessons.
  • Get students on task quickly and maintain a high level of student time-on-task.
  • Establish and implement rules and procedures for classroom behavior and transitions.
  • Monitor student behavior and address inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently.
  • Review previous materials and introduce new lesson objectives.
  • Present lessons using concepts and language understandable to students.
  • Provide relevant examples and demonstrations.
  • Assign tasks that students can complete successfully.
  • Ask appropriate questions and conduct lessons at a brisk pace.
  • Make efficient and smooth transitions between lessons and activities.
  • Ensure assignments are clear and summarize main points of lessons.
  • Maintain clear, firm, and reasonable work standards and due dates.
  • Circulate during class work to check student performance.
  • Use oral, written, and other work products to check student progress.
  • Provide feedback on in-class and out-of-class work.
  • Affirm correct responses and provide sustaining feedback after incorrect responses.
  • Develop and revise objectives and tasks based on diagnostic information.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance.
  • Align instructional plans with objectives, strategies, assessments, and student needs.
  • Utilize available human and material resources.
  • Treat all students fairly and equitably.
  • Interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and the community.
  • Carry out non-instructional duties as assigned.
  • Adhere to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate growth.
  • Uphold the Code of Ethics and Standards for Professional conduct.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
