About The Position

Farley Elementary School is seeking 2 English- Elementary School Teachers in their dual language program. The role is to provide direct instruction to students at the elementary grade level, ensuring Hudson Public Schools’ high expectations for achievement and equal access to high levels of instruction. The teacher will create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and addresses the needs of all learners, supporting the social/emotional development of the students.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field.
  • Must hold the appropriate DESE issued license in field and grade level core academic license.
  • Must hold the appropriate DESE issued license in ESL.
  • Familiar with the WIDA standards and how to align them to student learning.
  • Demonstrate experience working with students of diverse backgrounds with diverse needs in an equitable and inclusive manner.
  • Demonstrate experience evaluating student skills through writing reports that interpret/summarize findings.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and data-collection skills to support student success.
  • Demonstrate ability to plan and implement lessons based on district and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal skills for communicating with parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community representatives.
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and fingerprints.

Nice To Haves

  • Portuguese proficiency of at least Intermediate High.
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate experience supporting students with special needs.
  • Advance educational preparation in the discipline.
  • Familiar with literacy development in Portuguese.
  • Teaching experience in the discipline.
  • Demonstrate experience with second language acquisition.
  • Additional content area license (i.e. Special Needs).

Responsibilities

  • Integrating knowledge of second language acquisition and evidenced based practices for effective Dual Language Program implementation.
  • Planning instruction which lends to the educational growth and development of students.
  • Using innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learn.
  • Creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, celebrates cultural differences, and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Effective management of classroom environment.
  • Guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Mentoring students’ understanding of the curriculum effectively and adjusting instruction, materials, or assessments, when appropriate.
  • Providing effective instruction that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students, including making appropriate adjustments and modifications to consistently deliver the curriculum in English and making learning goals clear to students.
  • Identification, referral procedures, and accommodations for students requiring Special Education.
  • Assessing the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and providing progress reports.
  • Promoting high standards and expectations for student achievement.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  • Ensuring the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
  • Performing other reasonably job-related tasks.
