About The Position

Charter Schools USA seeks an Elementary Daily Substitute to support students’ education when the regular teacher is absent. The substitute follows the absent teacher’s lesson plans and schedule, maintains classroom routines and student behavior, and works in accordance with school and CSUSA policies. The role also includes communicating with school leadership and staff and protecting confidential information about students and staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
• Completion of the District's Substitute Workshop, when required by the district.

• Ability to work and interact with staff and relate to individuals at all levels of the organization, while being sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and public image.

• Basic computer skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Communication skills, including oral communication and presentations, written communication, interpersonal active listening, and negotiating.

Responsibilities

• Review the plans and schedule for the teaching day with the principal, supervisor, and/or designated teacher.
• Teach lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Provide a written report of the day's activities and other feedback requested by the building principal.
• Follow school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures applicable to regular teachers and sound teaching practice.
• Consult the building principal and/or supervisor before initiating lessons or procedures not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintain established school and classroom routines and procedures.
• Oversee pupil behavior in class and at other times during the school day as requested.
• Maintain appropriate behavior among assigned students throughout the school day.
• Maintain good relations with faculty and staff.
• Treat information about students and staff confidentially.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
