About The Position

The teacher helps students acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to their development into mature, able, and responsible men and women. This role involves instructional and classroom management, professional responsibilities, and fostering positive interpersonal relationships.

Requirements

Shall hold a bachelor's degree or higher.
Shall hold the required Kentucky certificate for the assigned position.
Shall demonstrate the ability to work effectively with students, peers and adults.
Shall demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and faculty.
Shall have the ability to sit, stoop, possibly lift up to 50 pounds or more, and any/all body movements as related to the job description.

Responsibilities

Uses effective instructional/assessment techniques.
Ensures students are on task during the lesson/activity.
Follows prescribed curriculum to the academic expectations as determined by school policy.
Implements and monitors the Individual Education Plan or other learning plan approved for individual students.
Demonstrates innovation in the classroom.
Effectively plans and prepares for instruction that is designed to meet the needs of individual students.
Uses effective classroom management techniques.
Follows school, district, state and federal guidelines and policies.
Attends staff meetings.
Reports to work regularly and on time.
Keeps up to date on current educational trends.
Correctly completes and properly files all required records and reports on time.
Shares ideas and materials with fellow educators.
Serves on district, school, department and/or team committees in a positive, productive manner.
Selects appropriate channels for resolving concerns/problems.
Cooperates with resource personnel, other staff members and parents.
Attends to assigned duties and responsibilities in a prompt manner.
Promotes a proper and attractive physical environment for the classroom.
Promotes a professional image through proper personal appearance.
Initiates parent/teacher conferences, meetings and written communications.
Attends and promotes school related activities as required (includes staff development activities).
Is cooperative.
Demonstrates self-control.
Gives and receives constructive criticism.
Deals only with those involved in issues of controversy and disagreement.
