About The Position
St. Therese Catholic Academy (STCA) is seeking an Elementary Choir teacher for the 26-27 school year. This is a part-time, self-contained role within our specialist team, responsible for teaching Choir to Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The curriculum will focus on the gospel diaspora's influence on Gospel Music. STCA is a Preschool-8th grade Catholic elementary school located in Seattle's Madrona neighborhood, serving a diverse community of 135 students. The Choir Teacher will work with Kindergarten - 5th grade students, fostering vocal skills, mental strength, and musical appreciation. Instruction will include Catholic Gospel songs and contemporary music, with weekly classes and leading weekly liturgies for the whole school. Opportunities for collaboration, joint planning through the PLC process, and implementing creative ideas are encouraged. Applicants should be mission-driven, highly motivated, dedicated, and creative individuals who are passionate about working with students and families from all backgrounds in a diverse, Catholic setting. The ideal candidate will bring passion, energy, faith, and a strong work ethic, enjoying partnerships with colleagues and parents, and a desire to help students of varying ability levels succeed. Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in music or music education.
- Experience directing choirs or teaching children.
- Ability to read and teach music notation.
- Piano or keyboard accompaniment skills.
- Ability to teach healthy vocal technique.
- Classroom management skills.
- Ability to plan concerts and performances.
- Ability to work well with elementary-aged children.
- Effective communication with parents and staff.
