This position is responsible for providing educational leadership through the Waterloo Community School District curriculum and to facilitate learning that challenges and supports all students in an equitable and safe environment and that meets Board Policy 102.0 (Educational Philosophy) and Board and building educational goals. This position delivers the curriculum selected by the district, congruent with the district-adopted curriculum scope and sequence, in a manner congruent with district expectations for teaching strategies, approaches and methodologies. The selected applicant will be expected to teach students in grades K-5 about proper elementary art techniques, age appropriate fine art theory, and help students prepare pieces for public display using developmentally appropriate repertoire. The teacher will implement effective classroom management strategies, effectively use technology, and monitor and document student progress. In the Waterloo Schools we utilize Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) and formative assessments in our daily work. Teachers are expected to work with colleagues on a daily basis to collaborate about instructional strategies and student learning.
