The position is for inpatient only and will predominantly involve working in the Electrophysiology lab. Inpatient rounding (consults, discharges, follow ups, cardioversions, implantable loop recorder placement). EP Lab includes: Independent device pocket closure, Procedural assist and circulation, Advanced invasive electrophysiology testing/monitoring, Central vascular access (placement and removal), Arterial line management and removal, Direct assist with procedure-based catheter management. 1.0 FTE for 4-day work week. 10-hr days (7a-5p) ~ every 6th weekend will be required.

Requirements

  • Master's degree - Completion of accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Licensed Physician Assistant or Licensed Nurse Practitioner - MN Board of Medical Practice required upon hire
  • ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
  • Certification as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner - NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) required upon hire
  • Drug Enforcement Administration required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • New graduates may be considered.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in cardiology or ICU

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients if designated by the specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned.
