Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus: - a BS degree in a technical field and 4 years work experience or; - a technical institute, Adult BOCES certification, AA degree in a technical field, CCI program completion at BNL plus 8 years experience or; - a technical high school certification program (eg. BOCES) and 9 years relevant work experience or; - 10 years relevant work experience.
  • Experience with fabrication, assembly, wiring, testing electronics systems.
  • Experience with analog/digital electronics, computers and standard test equipment (ex. function generators, oscilloscopes, multi-meters).
  • Ability to work from schematics, diagrams, and written procedures.
  • Strong computer skills with applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic machine shop skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of technical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair complex power supply and other electronic systems using test equipment.
  • Support the development and construction of prototype power supplies and other electronic equipment.
  • Repair and replace components and circuit boards in electronic systems.
  • Support operations and troubleshoot power supply and control systems.
  • Proficient with schematics and mechanical assembly drawings.
  • Maintain and implement safety practices and procedures applicable to daily activities.
  • Overtime work, including emergency call-in, required.
  • Respond to Emergency Call-ins outside of normal working hours.
