About The Position

This position will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, removing and repairing electronic devices including, but not limited to: Luminator/Twin Vision, destination signs, GFI and other Fareboxes / vaults, receivers and money counting equipment, Logic and Digital Recorder talking bus systems and equipment, video monitors, video recorders, two-way radios, Siemens (AVL) Automatic vehicle locator and (APC) Automatic passenger counter equipment as well as Siemens and Digital GPS equipment, Loronix cameras and systems as well as on board wireless and fixed P.A. systems. This position will function as part of larger team, each member being cross trained with the ability to effectively repair, diagnose, troubleshoot all above systems.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current NC CDL license, Class “B” with a passenger endorsement or Class B CDL Permit with a Passenger Endorsement.
  • Knowledge of electronics to perform inspections, diagnosis, removal and repair of equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
  • Ability to drive buses, trucks, non-revenue vehicles and equipment into the shop, line & yard.
  • Ability to physically bend, stoop, walk, kneel, stretch and lift fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Must be willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with commercial cleaners and toxic materials.
  • Ability to work in open bays, inside buses and inside test and repair room.
  • Must have own basic tool set.
  • Any employee using a company vehicle will be required to provide and maintain proof of a valid NC Drivers License.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience in the electronic repair field and one (1) year of technical school training in electronics; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Electronic Technician Degree desired.

Responsibilities

  • Completes scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance / p.m.’s on all electronic systems, subassemblies and control devices.
  • Inspects, diagnoses, removes and repairs electronic systems, equipment and devices.
  • Determines the source of trouble.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts or makes changes as instructed.
  • Uses testing equipment (meters, oscilloscopes, test bench and mock-up).
  • Executes field repairs on road failures as needed.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
