About The Position

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Electronics Technician performs a variety of technical assignments involving electronic component assemblies as well as bench testing to ensure system functionality to comply with UL & CSA certifications. Electronics Technicians will perform inspections of Return Goods to determine component failures as well as potential supplier or user opportunities for improvement. Share data/information with Electrical Engineers for product performance and or development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electronic Technology or High School Diploma and equivalent experience/certifications.
  • Achievement of a passing score on Spacesaver’s Baseline Assessment.
  • Complete all assigned developmental training plans, classes, and certifications.
  • Solid PC familiarity, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos in the English language. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other team members.
  • Able to read tape measures and efficiently operate all other required measuring devices, such as calipers, scales, protractors, and other measuring equipment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Good time management skills, ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and be attentive to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Spacesaver safety policies and procedures. Learn and perform start-up and shut-down procedures, ergonomic practices, E-stops, Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
  • Perform Standard Work by following Work/Operator Instructions/training.
  • Performs testing, burning, troubleshooting, and repair of P.C. boards assemblies received from vendors.
  • Tests and repairs boards returned from the field and answer field service questions as required.
  • Builds test fixtures for various PC Board assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot and check jobs on the test bench to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Alerts appropriate department(s) of concerns, suggestions, etc., that arise from testing, repairing, and troubleshooting as well as field complaints.
  • Operates E-prom and microcontroller programmers.
  • Completes records, reports, and correspondence as required.
  • Performs general assembly as required.
  • Understand and practice 5S (Sort, Set In Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain).
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor or PC.
  • Meet or exceed the department’s production efficiency goals.
  • Perform required preventative maintenance or calibrations on machines as required.
  • Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision.
  • Perform problem-solving and containment. Perform in-process documentation and non-conforming material process.
  • Complete all required record documentation.
  • Support and participate in assignments in other work areas, as work load demands change.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Adhere to scheduled work hours and be available to work overtime as needed.
  • Behave in a safe manner at all times.
