About The Position

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Test & Evaluation, Program Mission Support, Engineering & Analysis, and Training. Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving the testing, analysis and evaluation of materials and processes. Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Assembles electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments. Sets up and operates test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and records results. Conducts pierside alteration installation and removals onboard US naval vessels. Effectively interface with engineering, operational, and fleet personnel at all levels.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 6 (six) years of related technical experience as an electrical, electronic, or mechanical technician in support of R&D or Test & Evaluation (T&E) of U.S. Naval systems
  • U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance
  • Able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance
  • U.S. Navy Submarine Sonar experience
  • Able to obtain qualification to support underway events
