About The Position

We're seeking an experienced Electronics Technician Specialist to diagnose, repair, and improve a wide range of fiber optic equipment. In this role, you'll use advanced troubleshooting skills to identify faulty components, correct alignment issues, perform repairs, and develop equipment modifications as needed. You'll also play an important role in sharing your knowledge by assisting with the training of other Fiber Technicians. This position is ideal for a highly skilled technician who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving repair processes, and working with cutting-edge fiber optic technology.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a two-year college required with: 10+ years of electrical/electronics experience, and 3+ years of surface mount and fiber optic experience; or An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • Experience working directly with fiber optic equipment manufacturers to obtain technical information, troubleshooting support, and repair solutions for complex equipment issues.
  • Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and investigative skills to solve complex repair challenges.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fiber optic equipment repair, alignment, calibration, and testing.
  • Ability to analyze technical information and develop effective repair solutions for new and existing equipment platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all operations required to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, align, and calibrate fiber optic equipment to specifications.
  • Inspect equipment to verify customer-reported issues, diagnose symptoms, and determine root causes.
  • Complete all required documentation, including estimates, technical inquiries, parts requests, and customer communications.
  • Repair equipment by replacing faulty or high-failure components, correcting misalignments, and performing necessary calibrations.
  • Thoroughly test and verify equipment performance before release.
  • Install all types of connectors onto existing fiber and new optical devices.
  • Develop and document repair and alignment procedures for fiber equipment.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies that may improve future repair capabilities.
  • Reverse engineer new equipment models and create supporting documentation, including schematics, procedures, and parts lists.
  • Partner with leadership to evaluate the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of repairing new equipment types and models.
  • Assist in training Fiber Technicians on equipment, troubleshooting methods, and repair procedures.
  • Support the resolution of complex or challenging repair issues.
  • Serve in Group Lead responsibilities as needed.
