About The Position

PEMCCO is seeking a Senior Electronics Technician to maintain and repair traffic signals, fiber optic communications equipment, CCTV systems, electronic control devices, and other transportation technology that helps keep Virginia's roadways operating safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for candidates with backgrounds in electronics, telecommunications, low-voltage systems, fiber optics, field service, industrial controls, or transportation technology. PEMCCO supports the operation and maintenance of critical tunnel, transportation, and facility systems. We provide stable, hands-on work for skilled trades professionals in a safety-focused environment where your expertise helps keep essential systems running. As a Senior Electronics Technician, you will install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and support a wide range of electronic and communications equipment used in transportation operations. You'll work with traffic signal controllers, fiber optic systems, CCTV cameras, communications equipment, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and other field technologies that support public safety and mobility. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working in the field, diagnosing equipment failures, performing repairs, and ensuring critical systems remain operational.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electronic theory and electronic troubleshooting principles.
  • Experience maintaining, diagnosing, or repairing electronic and electromechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read technical plans, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using electronic diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and related computer applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting Intelligent Transportation Systems
  • Experience with traffic signals, transportation technology, communications equipment, or traffic management systems
  • Experience working with fiber optic communication systems
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking technologies and communications infrastructure
  • Experience with CCTV, video surveillance, security systems, or PLCs
  • Previous experience in transportation, roadway, tunnel, utility, or infrastructure environments

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, program, and modify transportation electronics and traffic control equipment.
  • Troubleshoot traffic signal controllers, communications equipment, and electronic field devices.
  • Maintain fiber optic, wireless, and Ethernet-based communications systems.
  • Diagnose and repair CCTV cameras, pan-tilt-zoom devices, video equipment, encoders, decoders, switches, and related systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and equipment testing.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, plans, and technical documentation.
  • Use electronic test equipment, fiber optic testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools to identify and resolve issues.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair activities supporting traffic operations and transportation infrastructure.
  • Document maintenance activities and communicate technical findings clearly and professionally.
  • Support critical systems that help keep traffic moving and support public safety operations.
