Electronics Technician (PLC Technician)

About The Position

The Electronics Technician is responsible for basic knowledge of the production equipment with computer controls. This position would require a basic understanding for machine controls and the associated wiring. The Electronics Technician is required to oversee product change over, machine startup and shutdown, and also perform basic troubleshooting and repair. In addition to machine controls, this position also oversees camera inspection systems and can adjust inspection programs. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of light PLC code programming and vision system programming.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in highly regulated environment with strict change control guidelines. Must have the ability to properly document changes and obtain approval prior to implementing change.
  • Must possess knowledge of industrial automation equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PLC control systems and HMI interface.
  • Ability to review mechanical design for equipment.
  • Must be detail-oriented with exceptional planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in office software programs such as word and excel.
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk while carrying items.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of light PLC code programming and vision system programming.

Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of electrical meters for voltage and current, such as a Fluke Meter.
  • Working knowledge and application for an oscilloscope.
  • Ability to open a PLC code and follow the process to assist in troubleshooting.
  • Ability to conduct minor adjustments to PLC code to alter functions of existing machines.
  • Create new vision system programming and adjust existing programming.
  • Working knowledge for basic mechanical equipment such as conveyors, robot end of arm tools, cam shaft drives, gear drives, etc.
  • Experience with interfacing with equipment on computer control systems.
  • Experience with computerized asset management software, or CMMS systems.
  • Electrical knowledge with strong understanding for cabinet electrical safety and arc flash requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
