About The Position

Lynker Corporation is seeking a dynamic and experienced Electronics Technician Maintenance I (EMT I) (Sea-going) to assist the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) in providing quality meteorological and oceanographic observations in the marine environment. NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates/integrates, tests, deploys, maintains/repairs 4 worldwide buoy systems including Weather Buoy Stations, Coastal Observation (C-MAN) stations, Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations. The program also performs data analysis/storage/dissemination of related weather and environmental data from these systems (25%) and other sources (75%) of in-situ weather data, Logistics, Information Technology/Data Administration, and Programming.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in maintenance, repair, test and modification of marine electrical and electronics systems.
  • Experience with the loading and offloading of equipment, containerized or other, in the field, and with the preparation of shipment load list.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate must be capable of performing duties at sea within harsh weather environments.
  • Requires electronic, electrical and limited mechanical assembly work at the industrial facilities and remote station locations of the NDBC network in support of all operational missions and programs (Weather Buoy, DART, TAO, and C-MAN) as well as considerable travel, including at sea onboard U.S. Coast Guard, NOAA, University, or private vessels.
  • Perform field assignments as a member or team leader for installation, troubleshooting, repair and de-installation.
  • Experience with the loading and offloading of equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer skills Microsoft office suite for completion of test and field related documentation.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to represent NDBC/Lynker in the field.
