About The Position

The Electronics Technician II supports the testing, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of complex microwave RF, analog, and digital electronic systems used in high-reliability aerospace and defense applications. This intermediate-level position works under the technical guidance of senior technicians and engineers while performing assigned tasks with limited day-to-day supervision. The Electronics Technician II conducts component-level fault isolation, executes established test procedures, documents results, and supports equipment integration, verification, and configuration-control activities. The successful candidate will have foundational RF/microwave and digital electronics experience and demonstrate sound judgment regarding when to seek guidance or escalate technical issues.

  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field; completion of a recognized military or vocational electronics technician program with 0-1 year of related experience; OR high school diploma/ GED with 2 years related experience.
  • Foundational hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting electronic systems, preferably within aerospace, defense, or another high-reliability environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and technical manuals.
  • Experience using general-purpose electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
  • Experience performing troubleshooting, testing, adjustment, and operational verification of electronic assemblies; component-level troubleshooting experience is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of RF and microwave principles and components, including filters, amplifiers, mixers, couplers, and waveguides.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including discrete components, integrated circuits, logic circuits, and power supplies.
  • Ability to perform structured fault isolation using technical documentation and applicable test equipment.
  • Ability to follow detailed test procedures and accurately record, analyze, and interpret test results.
  • Familiarity with computer-based test systems, data-acquisition tools, and automated test software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP, CMMS, electronic work-order, or configuration-management systems.
  • Ability to work within ISO, AS9100, or similar quality and configuration-management systems.
  • Ability to work independently after initial instruction while recognizing when technical guidance or escalation is required.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, problem-solving ability, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain customer- or contract-required certifications for equipment operation or site access.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance as required by contract.
  • Commitment to safety, security, quality, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to RF/microwave, communications, sensing, or other complex electronic systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electronic assemblies and subsystems to the component level, including faults involving diodes, transistors, integrated circuits, and RF devices.
  • Read and interpret schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, specifications, test procedures, and technical manuals to identify faults in RF, analog, and digital circuits.
  • Determine appropriate corrective actions and create or update work instructions for component replacement and printed circuit board rework performed by authorized personnel.
  • Set up and operate RF/microwave and general-purpose electronic test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, power meters, function generators, and logic analyzers.
  • Conduct functional, performance, and acceptance testing in accordance with approved procedures and technical requirements.
  • Assist with the calibration and operational verification of test equipment, test configurations, and associated systems.
  • Support the integration and modification of microwave RF modules, power supplies, control circuitry, electronic assemblies, and associated cables and harnesses.
  • Perform limited teardown and reassembly required to access assemblies, install or remove line-replaceable units, and verify equipment operation.
  • Accurately record test data, troubleshooting results, repair actions, and configuration changes in maintenance logs, work orders, and electronic tracking systems.
  • Follow established processes for discrepancy reporting, nonconformance documentation, corrective actions, quality assurance, and configuration management.
  • Assist with the preparation and revision of work instructions, test procedures, checklists, and related technical documentation.
  • Use computer-based test systems, automated data-acquisition tools, ERP/CMMS applications, configuration-management systems, and standard business software.
  • Comply with company, customer, and regulatory requirements involving ESD controls, RF exposure, high voltage, hazardous materials, security, and export controls.
  • Support audits, inspections, continuous-improvement activities, and efforts to improve safety, quality, cost, schedule, and operational efficiency.
  • May be assigned responsibility for the routine status, organization, and upkeep of a laboratory, test area, or equipment set.
  • Understand basic budget constraints involving consumables, test equipment, and maintenance activities. Identify and escalate conditions likely to exceed established funding or resource limits.
  • Work primarily in laboratory, shop, test, and production environments, including secure or restricted-access areas.
  • Safely work around active RF equipment, high-voltage power supplies, energized systems, and sensitive electronic assemblies while using required PPE and ESD controls.
  • Frequently stand, walk, use hand tools, and work at benches or test stations. Duties may require bending, kneeling, reaching into equipment, using a ladder or step stool, and pushing or pulling carts or equipment stands.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, or move electronic assemblies, tools, and test equipment weighing up to 35–40 pounds.
