About The Position

The City of Greensboro Water Resources Department is seeking a skilled and technically minded professional to join our team as an Electronics Process Technician. This position plays a critical role in keeping the electronic, instrumentation, and process control systems that support the City's water treatment and distribution operations functioning safely, accurately, and reliably. Requirements

Associate's Degree OR an equivalency of a High School Diploma and 7+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.
Completion of two year Trade School for industrial electronics, Process Control Instrumentation, or Mechatronics.
Military Career with a highly skilled electronics-based MOS.
Valid Driver's License
7+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
Grade C NC Surface WTFO (Or obtain within 18 months of hire date)
Certified Control Systems Technician Level I
NC Limited Electrical License (OR the ability to obtain within 18 months of hire date)

Nice To Haves

Experience troubleshooting and Repair skills for variable speed motor drives.
Experience reading blueprints, pipe layouts, and electrical diagrams
Programming & troubleshooting experience for Programmable Logic Controllers.

Responsibilities

Maintaining plant and distribution system electronic processes and equipment.
Troubleshooting and servicing analog and digital electronic systems.
Maintaining radio transmission equipment and communications systems.
Working with water quality instrumentation and process monitoring equipment.
Maintaining instrumentation and sensors used to measure level, pH, temperature, residuals, flow, and chemical pacing.
Supporting computer-based process control systems, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Performing mechanical and electrical duties as needed to maintain reliable process control.
Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment associated with pumps, motors, wiring, lighting, chemical systems, and valve actuators.
Working with medium- and low-voltage electrical systems and process equipment.
Diagnosing equipment issues and applying sound technical judgment to restore reliable operation.
Working collaboratively with Water Resources operations, maintenance, engineering, and other technical staff.
