The mechanic interprets technical drawings and schematics, troubleshoots complex systems, repairs circuit cards, and modifies equipment or systems to support standardization or incorporate new features. The position works with engineering staff, manufacturers, and field personnel to diagnose equipment problems and develop modifications or corrections, and consults the Engineering Design Section during remodeling and construction planning. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, with hours to be determined. A compressed or flexible schedule is not authorized. Work may occur indoors or outdoors and can involve emergency call-outs after hours. The role includes work at heights, in confined or poorly lit spaces, and in conditions involving heat, noise, dust, grease, fuels, chemicals, electrical hazards, and uneven or slippery surfaces. Protective equipment such as hard hats, gloves, safety shoes, and glasses is used. Other duties may be assigned.
