Our Space and Defense Group is looking for an Electronics Engineering Technician to join their team. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and will have an onsite, 1st shift work schedule in East Aurora, NY. This role provides engineering support to solve challenging problems on a complex product line and serves as the primary point of contact for any questions or concerns from Electronics A&T personnel. The technician will provide technical guidance to Electronics A&T personnel and serve as an assembly process expert for inquiries from all functions, utilizing strong written and verbal communication skills. They will support Electronics A&T operations by performing product and process improvement projects and ensure product integrity of all hardware on the product line through failure investigations and escalations when required, using hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Additionally, the technician will provide clear production instructions to Electronics A&T personnel to maintain efficiency including formal Work Instructions and Electronic Historical Record (EHR) entries, and support equipment evaluation and implementation to meet production requirements including assembly fixtures and tools, production flow-line systems, and test equipment. The role involves working directly with engineering drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions. Periodically, the technician may work additional hours to support program goals and product demand as needed. The technician will assemble high reliability Box Builds and final assemblies using chassis, circuit cards, stand offs, wire harnesses, epoxy/ staking, conformal coating, solder and crimping, electrical and mechanical instruments. They will complete inspections and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) checks, and perform high reliability soldering and crimping operations on complex sub-assemblies, electronic, and mechanical assemblies, repair of circuit boards, jumper wires, and wire harnesses. The role requires proficiency in the disassembly, reassembly and repair of electronic assemblies such as electro-mechanical assemblies, working from assembly drawings, manufacturing outlines, worksheets, parts lists and other instructions. The technician will maintain process certification per company specifications and maintain traceability of all hardware and materials. They will establish set-ups for performance tests for assemblies, sub-assemblies, and systems, including necessary fixtures, tooling, equipment, and potentially the use of temperature chambers. Familiarity with computers and software, working in Excel (can perform complex functions) with spreadsheets and applications is required, as is documenting drawings for nonconformances.
