About The Position

The Army Multi-Domain ISR Operations and Systems department, part of MITRE’s Army Program Division within MITRE National Security, is dedicated to advancing the Army’s capabilities in intelligence collection, processing, actionable decision-making, and electromagnetic operations, including disrupting adversary systems and enhancing operational effectiveness. The department supports the Army’s efforts to design, deliver, and sustain cutting-edge technologies that strengthen multi-domain intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations across a range of mission areas, including Electronic Warfare, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), intelligence targeting systems, ISR sensors, assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), electromagnetic situational awareness, and non-kinetic effects. This department works closely with Army acquisition, intelligence, operational, and science and technology communities, bringing a strong operational focus and deep technical expertise across a wide range of disciplines to ensure its contributions align with the Army’s mission to empower Warfighters and decision-makers with superior intelligence capabilities and operational overmatch.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 5 years and a Master’s degree; or 3 years and a PhD
  • Background in signal processing and RF technology, with a working knowledge of radar and communications systems.
  • Hands-on experience integrating and testing complex systems involving SDRs/RF components, embedded compute, networking, and mission software.
  • Proficiency in one or more of: Python, C/C++, or Matlab.
  • Experience with modern software practices and tooling (e.g., Git/GitLab, containerization such as Docker, CI/CD/DevSecOps, and Agile methodologies).
  • Ability to lead and manage engineering teams and develop enduring sponsor relationships.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field
  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with demonstrated experience in software development or hardware/software integration.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Strong grasp of systems engineering practices, including requirements decomposition and traceability, test planning, and interface definition.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, software, networking and RF layers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative electronic warfare (EW) techniques to counter advanced radar and communications threats found on the modern battlefield.
  • Identify and exploit associated vulnerabilities through electromagnetic attack.
  • Develop signal processing approaches and prototype these methods to demonstrate feasibility.
  • Lead and manage hardware and software development teams to rapidly implement candidate EW techniques.
  • Serve as the deputy project leader on a growing science and technology work program.
  • Partner with sponsors and industry to develop, test, and transition solutions that meet military operational needs by identifying technical challenges and leading engineering activities to deliver effective capabilities.
  • Collaborate with software developers, radio frequency (RF) engineers, systems integrators, and government stakeholders to deliver end-to-end capabilities on aggressive timelines.
  • Lead system-level integration, verification, and validation of software-defined radio (SDR)-based EW/SIGINT mission systems.
  • Define and manage system architecture, interfaces, and data flows across compute platforms, RF front ends, storage, and networking.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, interface control documents, verification procedures, and acceptance criteria for multi-component prototypes.
  • Support field exercises, demonstrations, and sponsor engagements; capturing results; and driving technical closure of issues.
  • Establish strong relationships within the sponsor organization and identify opportunities to collaborate with other government agencies to maximize mission impact.
  • Regularly engage with stakeholders in Aberdeen, MD, as required.
