About The Position

The Electronic Technician is responsible for performing work related to the installation, alteration, maintenance, and service of all electrical systems and equipment. This role requires troubleshooting and repairing AC/DC motors and associated control schemes, proficiency in programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and diagnosing/repairing various sensing devices. The technician will also work with high/low voltage systems, bend and run conduit, assess electrical needs for new equipment, and improve existing equipment performance. Reading and writing electrical schematics and ladder diagrams, using standard measuring devices, and possessing good technical and critical thinking skills are essential. A general knowledge of OSHA regulations is also required, along with the ability to identify and communicate issues to the Maintenance Manager. The role emphasizes adherence to safety, food safety, and GMP rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent plus two years of trade school or 4 years electrical and electronics work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures and customer specifications.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts using calculator.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Good technical and critical thinking skills.
  • General knowledge of OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair ac/dc motors and associated control schemes
  • Must be proficient in all aspects of a programmable logic controller (PLC)
  • Diagnose and repair/replace multiple types of sensing devices such as photo-eyes, limit switches, proximity sensors, I/Ps etc.
  • Diagnose electronic problems and replace down to board level circuitry
  • Work with high/low voltage systems and components such as 24vdc, 110vac, 208vac and 480vac.
  • Bend and run conduit and wire terminations.
  • Assess new equipment electrical needs for installation, plan/advice regarding the scope of work needed.
  • Assess and improve existing equipment performance and efficiencies as needed and where instructed.
  • Read and write electrical schematics and ladder diagrams.
  • Use all standard measuring devices.
  • Identify issues that he/she is not able to rectify and communicate them promptly to the Maintenance Manager for assistance.
  • Follow all safety, food safety, & GMP rules and regulations.
