You’ll join a cross‑functional team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers and technicians supporting continued development, enhancement, and scale‑up of Medtronic’s globally launched Robotic Assisted Surgery platform. Our mission is to enable less invasive surgery that leads to better outcomes, faster recovery, and improved quality of life for patients worldwide. As an Electronics Technician II supporting the Surgical Robotics program (R&D – Released Product Engineering), you will provide hands‑on technical support for production electronic hardware used in capital equipment and instrumentation within the robotic system. This role is highly lab‑based and works closely with engineering teams across development, testing, integration, verification, validation, and production transfer.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years related work experience in a technical or electronics related field; robotics preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, procedures, and instructions
  • Hands‑on experience with electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, data loggers, thermocouples, automated test equipment)
  • Experience using hand tools and lab equipment (e.g., soldering irons, microscopes, crimpers, cutters, tweezers)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or technical certification in Electronics
  • Experience in medical device or regulated product development environments
  • Familiarity with IEC 60601 or other medical device safety standards
  • Experience supporting robotics or complex electromechanical systems
  • IPC certifications (J‑STD‑001, IPC‑A‑610, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, IPC‑7711)
  • Knowledge of Quality System Regulations
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows operating systems

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic and electromechanical assemblies and prototypes
  • Perform mechanical assembly, wiring harness assembly, and lead‑free soldering (through‑hole and surface‑mount PCB components)
  • Set up and operate test equipment; document and analyze test results per defined procedures
  • Support system integration and ongoing verification and validation testing
  • Assist with root cause analysis, including data collection, trend identification, and investigation of low‑to‑moderate complexity issues
  • Repair, refurbish, and modify prototypes during development and test cycles
  • Set up, maintain, calibrate, and adjust lab equipment and test fixtures
  • Operate automated test equipment and follow inspection and test procedures
  • Assist with the design and build of test stands, fixtures, and custom test equipment
  • Maintain lab inventory, including electronic and mechanical components and supplies
  • Perform and document work in compliance with Quality System Regulations (QSRs) and internal procedures
  • Follow established lab safety practices and good laboratory standards
  • Provide technical support to engineering and cross‑functional team members
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members; work under general supervision within defined parameters
  • Continue skill development through training and educational programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned, with or without accommodation
